PE and Sport Provision

Mountnessing C of E Primary School Sports Provision

Mountnessing C of E Primary School ensures that all pupils receive 2 hours of quality PE teaching as part of their broad and balanced curriculum. Pupils learn a range of skills through indoor PE including; dance and gymnastics as well outdoor PE through a range of games including; football, rugby, netball, hockey, basketball, tennis, rounders, kwik cricket and athletics. The pupils of Mountnessing thoroughly enjoy their PE lessons and all pupils have the opportunity to take part in a range of intra & inter school competitions throughout the school year.

All pupils have the opportunity to receive swimming lessons in year 5 in order to learn how to competently swim at least 25m. Sports premium money has been used to part subsidise the cost of this for all year 5 pupils.

The school has used sports premium money to fund a fully qualified specialist sports coach to plan, teach & assess PE to EYFS and KS1. The specialist coach does this through team teaching KS2 pupils with class teachers. The specialist sports coach also runs weekly gifted and talented sessions with selected pupils to develop their skills. Full details of sports premium money expenditure can be found in the sports premium section of the website.
