Christian Ethos

Our school has a caring and inclusive Christian ethos. We have strong links with our local church St Giles, which is situated just outside the village of Mountnessing. We enjoy going to the church for special services, especially Easter and our Year 6 leavers service. Reverand Celia joins us in our school regularly to meet with the children and lead collective worship, as well as join in with our activities - she loves coming to Forest School sessions!

Our Christian Values run throughout the school; in collective worship, in lessons and in the playground.  Our pupils have an understanding of spiritual awareness, a sense of their own worth and an appreciation of the world around them. Our Christian Values feed into every area of school life and are used by all members of staff. These are based around the teaching of Jesus and are used as a model for our lives for how we should live and treat each other.

Mountnessing C of E Primary School is a has 6 main Christian Values that are at the heart of our school.

These are:

  • Friendship
  • Thankfulness
  • Respect
  • Creativity
  • Responsibility
  • Perserverance

Each class takes ownership of a value each half term and we focus on it as a whole school. This approach means that the children are emmersed in each Christian value through worship, assemblies, homework and lessons. Blogs and forums are set up on our VLE for the children to comment with their thoughts about the value that term. Parents are encouraged to learn about each value with their children through the home to school value sheet that is sent home each half term.

Our Worship committee has recently undertaken a project to ensure that the children have a place to go and be quiet, reflective and pray. This is called 'The Peaceful Room'.
